During my doctoral studies at the University of Illinois, I worked on silicon nanocrystallites. A number of published papers and two patents came out of this research. For that, I was awarded the King Abdul-Aziz Medal of Honor.

Moreover, in Dhul-Hijjah, 1428, I was appointed Founding Director of The Center of Excellence in Nanotechnology  (CENT).

A few presentations that I delivered as public lectures about nanotechnology and CENT can be found here.

The picture in the middle is is me (well.. actually, my feet!!) standing in front of home, in Dhahran (KFUPM) Saudi Arabia. I admit, the Purple Daisies are not from my back yard, but the picture on the left is!

You should be able to tell.. well maybe you shouldn't.. but I'll tell you.. I like to teach.. through formal classes, derivation and all that ugly physics [above]. However, I also like (and prefer) to teach through intuition, contemplation, and back of the envelope physics.

One of the projects I have been working on is proposing a course on The Physics of How Things Work. For example.. how do diamonds work? What gives them their fire, luster, and dispersion capabilities??

كما أنني نائب رئيس مجلس إدارة الجمعية العلمية السعودية للعلوم الفيزيائية.
