What's new

Due to the confusion about type of the participants of Workshop 1 (for Graduate students and RAs only) and workshop 2 (for faculty only), Prof. Madhavji made the following clarification:

Students are not allowed to register for Workshop 2

Faculty are not allowed to register for workshop 1

Any faculty or staff member who teaches courses (such as instructors, lecturers, ..etc) can attend workshop 2 which is going to be about teaching research methods as well as discussing the student feedback.

[11 Dec, 2006] Short course certificates: To be eligible for a certificate you have to attend at least three lectures from each course; that is a total of six lectures. In other words, you are allowed to miss at most one lecture in Sunday Dec 17th and at most one lecture in Tuesday Dec 19th.

[11 Dec, 2006] Registration for both short courses is closed. Both short course are full now. A waiting list has been created for those who submitted registration request.

[12 Dec, 2006] Short courses registration confirmed. The registration now has been confirmed for everyone who has been included in the waiting list of the short courses.

[13 Dec, 2006] Completion of the registration process: Registered participants for all of the workshops and the short courses are required to complete their registration before 9:00 am. The registration process will start at 8:30 am.

[13 Dec, 2006] ICS Workshop's Excellence in Participation Award: Attendees of the ICS workshop 1 on "Research Methods" have now a great opportunity to win an award of the "Excellence in Participation" certificate signed jointly by the ICS department and Professor Madhavji. The participant evaluation will be based on the quality and frequency of the interaction exchanges with the guest speaker as well as the quality and volume of "feedback" provided by the participant. Feedback will be gathered in structured templates that will be given out to all the participants at the start of the workshop. Up to five award winners will be chosen and officially recognized in the Department.

[19 Dec, 2006] Short course certificates: Due to many requests, the certificates for attending the short courses given by Prof. Madhavji will be issued for all students who attend at least 6 lectures out of the 8 lectures given in both short courses as follows:

If you attend at least 3 lectures in Sunday and at least 3 lecture in Tuesday then one certificate will be issued with your name in it certifying that you have attended BOTH of the given short courses

If you have attended 4 lectures in Sunday and two lectures in Tuesday or vice versa (2 in Sunday and 4 in Tuesday), then one certificate will be issued with your name in it certifying that you have attended only ONE of the given short courses, accordingly.

[19 Dec, 2006] ICS certificates awards ceremony: The ICS department invites everybody to celebrate the completion of the visit program of Prof. Madhavji on Wednesday Dec 20th at 3:00 pm in Bld 54, room 101. Certificates will be awarded to the short courses and workshop participants based on a selection criteria. Coffee and refreshments will be served. We look forward to seeing all of you there!
