Biography
M.E. Hossain is an Associate professor in the department of Petroleum Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He earned his BSc in Mechanical Engineering, MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1995 and 2001 respectively. Dr. Hossain received his PhD in Petroleum Engineering from Dalhousie University in 2008 and he also received his MBA degree in 2009 from the same university. Prior to KFUPM, Dr. Hossain worked at Ryerson University, and Dalhousie University, Canada, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman and BUET, Bangladesh. He also worked at petroleum industry for about nine years.
In his 20 years of professional career, Dr. Hossain has authored and/or co-authored more than 90 research articles on various topics of reservoir modeling, EOR, drilling fluid, reservoir characterization, drilling waste and environmental sustainability. Dr. Hossain published two books on the topic of sustainable petroleum operations and Fundamentals of Sustainable Drilling Engineering with John Wiley and Scrivener. Third book is in progress which will cover drilling problems and solutions. The introduction of memory concept first time ever in petroleum application is one of the milestone contributions of Dr Hossain for the industry. Currently, Dr. Hossain has over three million SR funding from Saudi Aramco, NSTIP, and Saudi government to conduct research in EOR, drilling waste management and development of new sustainable drilling fluid and additives. He has completed over five million SR projects funded by Saudi Aramco, NSTIP, and KFUPM in different area of petroleum engineering research. In recognition of his research and teaching excellence, he has received numbers of awards.
