1 ENVS 520: Advanced Environmental Chemistry
A core course in the Master of Environmental Sciences Program (ENVS)
The course emphasize on the major concepts essential to the practice of environmental sciences, technology, and chemistry. It covers the chemical fate and transport of inorganic and organic chemical pollutants in the air, water and soil environments. The course provides clear explanations to important concepts such as the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere.

Syllabus

2 ENVS 541: Environmental Geochemistry
An ENVS elective course in the Master of Environmental Sciences Program (ENVS)
The course introduces principles and applications of chemical analysis of geological materials (water, soil, sediments, and rocks). The analytical techniques covered include: Chromatography, Spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry, and Atomic Spectroscopy. Theoretical and Operating principles of analytical tools such as : GC, HPLC, MS, ICP, IC, UV/VIS, AA, FTIR, XRD and XRF are covered in the course. Laboratory sessions will provide hands-on- demonstration in relating lectures to practical analysis.

Syllabus

3 ENVS 590-I: Special Topics: Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
An ENVS elective course in the Master of Environmental Sciences Program (ENVS)
The aim of the course is to introduce the components and structure of an EIA as well as discuss how national guidelines and requirements for EIA influences the outcome. The course provides students with a working knowledge of the EIA process and the information needed to prepare and EIS report.

Syllabus

4 ENVS 547: Environmental Pollution
An ENVS elective course in the Master of Environmental Sciences Program (ENVS)
The course focus on the major concepts essential to the practice of environmental pollution issue. It covers the physical, chemical, biological and radioactive pollution in the air, water and soil environments. The course provides procedures to assess and estimate the extent of pollution. Remediation measures of the different pollution problems will be also provided in the course.
