EE (ultrasonic and microwave imaging). Title of thesis: ” Depth of field
improvements and automatic focusing technique in long wavelength imaging
systems”. University of Sheffield, UK |

Employment |
1988 -
Present
-
Assistant Professor then Associate Professor at the King Fahd
University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia.
-
In addition to my academic duty at the Electrical Engineering, I was
heavily involved in research in the area of nondestructive testing
of materials. I was the principal investigator of many research
projects in NDT that were granted by King Abdulaziz City of Science
and Technology (KACST) and by local industries such as, ARAMCO,
Saudi Transformer Co., and Sabic.
-
I conducted many consulting projects for NDT companies in the region
(Saudi ARAMCO, VETCO, Saudi Bechtel, and Saudi transformers), and
delivered many short courses for engineers in the Gulf states. I
also organized the first NDT workshop jointly with Saudi Aramco.
Extensive experience has been gained in operating immersion tanks
and data acquisition and processing of ultrasonic signals.
-
Trained a dozen of SONATRACH Engineers on the Automated Ultrasound
Equipment (Revolution) of WELDSONIC for the Multinational In Saleh
Gas Project pipeline, BECHTEL, Hassi R'mel, Summer 2002.
-
Evaluated the Magnetic Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (MEIS)
developed by HD Labs, Washington, USA, for Saudi ARAMCO, March 2004
to March 2005.
1984 - 1988
-
Research Officer and Head of the Nondestructive Testing Laboratory
at the Higher Commission for Research (HCR) "Haut Commissariat a la
Recherche" Algiers, Algeria.
-
I have created the first NDT laboratory nationwide, and have been
challenged to meet the high expectations and trust put in my person
to head this institution. The nature of the work was to carry out
R&D projects. As welding and many NDT techniques were new to me, I
had attended many specialized short courses and extensive trainings
in Europe.
-
During this four years, I have supervised seven Master students, and
taught many NDT courses such as Ultrasound, Eddy current,
magnetoscopy, acoustic emission, and radiography.
1981 - 1984
-
Teaching Assistant, University of Sheffield, UK.
-
Graduate student at the University of Sheffield reading for the
Ph.D. Degree.
|
Honours and Awards |
-
First Class Honors in every year of undergraduate study at the
University of Sheffield UK.
-
Ranked First among Sheffield graduate candidates for the Sheffield
University Grant.
-
Received the Sheffield University Grant to sponsor the Ph.D. work
