             Assistant Professor

Welcome to my website

  Introduction

Dr. Papa Birame Ndiaye received his bachelor degree in fundamental physics from University Paris-Sud in 2010. He received his master’s degree in condensed matter physics in 2012, including an Erasmus year at The University of Manchester. He graduated from KAUST, with a Ph.D. degree in material science and engineering in 2017. He has a publication record of over x papers in renowned journals.

He joined KFUPM as Assistant Professor in the Physics Department from Fall 2018.

  My research interests

My research is at the intersection of magnetism, topological materials, quantum transport and spin-orbitronics. My focus is on spintronics which exploits the spin on top of the charge  of the electrons to improve device functionality. In the era of big data, spin-based solutions are interesting for dissipationless data storage.

I theoretically investigate the nature of charge-spin transport in promising building blocks for next generation technology: 1- topological insulators, 2- spin-orbit coupled magnonic systems, and 3- topological magnetic textures such as skyrmions.
