Course Objectives:
The
course main objective is to provide an introduction to the
relatively new and rapidly expanding field of GIS technology. To
achieve that objective, the course covers the fundamental
concepts of GIS such as GIS Components, Data Input and Output,
Spatial Data Structures, GIS Planning and Implementation, and
the various applications of GIS. Other relevant topics are
covered such as Remote Sensing and Global Positioning System
(GPS). The course includes extensive hands-on exercises to
reinforce the presented concepts.
