The <area> tag

Definition and Usage

Defines a region in an image map. 


Tips and Notes

Note: The <area> tag is an empty element, it contains attributes only. This element is always nested inside the map element.

Note: End tag is forbidden.

Sets the shape of the area with the coordinates 
href url Sets the url to link to when the area is clicked

Excludes an area from an image-map

Where to open the linked document when you click on the area. Use it in combination with the href attribute

When using "_blank" the link will load in a new window. 

When using "_self" the link will load in the same frame it was clicked. 

When using "_parent" the link will load in the parent frameset. 

When using "_top" the link will load in the full body of the window

id, class, title, style, dir, lang, tabindex, accesskey
