GS 342 INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS: 3-0-3
Course Description
The nature of the international community
and how states interact; the emergence of a global system of
states; theories of international relations and the factors that
affect the international community; foreign policy analysis;
aspects related to international relations such as international
law, United Nations and other organizations; international
political economy with emphasis on international trade,
international finance and multi-national corporations; regional
and international current issues; the future of international
relations.
Prerequisite: ENGL
102
Course
Objectives
The course aims at:
* Introduce students
to the academic study
of
international
relations.
* Help
students to
explore the
nature of
the international
community and
relations
between States.
* Help students
develop their academic skills, with emphasis on
communication, strategic thinking, and critical analysis.
* Introduce students
to the study of
major theories
of
international
relations. Hence, it provides them
with an
academic framework of
analysis.
* Develop students’ knowledge of
major factors
affecting
international
relations.
* Introduce students
to key concepts of
international relations, particularly
foreign policy
and international political
economy.
