Biography
Dr. Aasif Helal completed his B. Sc. in year 1999
from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh India. He did his M.Sc. in
organic chemistry from Aligarh Muslim University India in year 2001.
He joined for PhD in Kyungpook National University, South Korea in
the year 2005 in applied organic chemistry. He completed his PhD in
February 2010 in “Synthesis and Ion Sensing Properties of Thiazole
based Receptors”. The same year he was awarded “Best Researcher of
the year 2009” by Kyungpook National University. In March 2010 he
joined as postdoctoral Fellow in the same university for “the
development of ESIPT based ion-sensing molecular probes”. In August
2012 he joined Department of Material Science and Engineering at
Seoul National University of Seoul, South Korea as a Post-Doctoral
Fellow for “the synthesis of novel molecular materials and metal
organic frameworks and their application in Organic Solar Cells,
OLED, OFET and sensors”. In December 2013 he joined CENT as Research
Scientist III. His research interests include design and synthesis
of novel organic molecular materials and metal organic framework as
sensors, solar cells, and catalysts. Modification and
functionalization of nanomaterials for tuning their photophysical
properties and increase their selectivity, and sensitivity, as
sensors. His work also includes synthesis and development of new
scaffolds for supramolecular entities and their use in host-guest
chemistry for detection of organic pollutants. He authored more than
15 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and holds 2
patents in addition to several conference proceedings/presentations
