Samir A. Al-Baiyat obtained his B.Sc, and M.Sc.
degrees in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum
& Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia in 1977 and 1980 respectively, and his
Ph.D. from, the University of Norte Dame, U.S.A. in 1986. Dr. Baiyat
joined the KFUPM faculty in 1986, he has been chairman of Electrical
Engineering Department KFUPM for six years. He is now a Professor. He is
Dean of College of Engineering Sciences, and Acting Dean College Applied
Engineering since 2001. Dr. Baiyat’s areas of interest are Power Systems
and Control Theory. He has a number of publications in the areas of non
linear control systems, model reduction and stability of power systems.
Dr. Baiyat has been the Chairman of the IEEE Saudi Arabia section.
