    • Formal Modeling and Analysis of Malicious Attacks against the TOR Protocol (Ongoing research). This research is about analyzing the anonymity of TOR (The Onion Routing) using formal methods in particular techniques based on information theory.

    • Some queuing schemes and flow control mechanisms have been studied using OPNET and their effect on network performance.
    • Performance analysis of Congestion Control in active network platform (achieved for a PhD thesis).

·   Undergraduate Level:

·    COE 402: "Computer System Performance Evaluation" - The students carry out projects simulating and investigating several performance evaluation issues. The course enrollment is about 10-15 students each semester.

·    COE 441: "Local Area Networks" - The students carry out projects simulating and investigating several LAN protocols performance. The course enrollment is about 10-20 students each semester.

·    COE 444: "Internetwork Design and Management" - The students conduct a project where they may design and simulate an internetwork using OPNET. This involves 10-20 students each semester.

·    COE 445: "Internet Information Services" - The students carry out projects simulating and investigating several Internet services. The course enrollment is about 10-20 students each semester.

·    COE 485: "Senior Design Project" - OPNET is used to conduct several senior design projects.

·    ICS 432: "Computer Network Systems" - The students carry out projects simulating and investigating several computer network systems issues. The course enrollment is about 10-20 students each semester.

·    ICS 444: "Computer and Network Security" - OPNET may be used by the students for their project. The course enrollment is about 10-20 students each semester.

·    Electrical Engineering students are frequently using OPNET in their undergraduate courses.

  • Graduate Level:

·    COE 540:  "Computer Networks" - OPNET is introduced as a simulation and performance evaluation tool for graduate students that are willing to pursue their course work or research with this tool. OPNET Modeler is used. Some students are using the IT GURU in this course.   

·    COE 541: "Local and Metropolitan Area Networks" - OPNET WLAN module is used by some graduate students for their term project. Projects typically involve LAN and WLAN simulations and characterizations.   

·    COE 543: "Mobile Computing and Wireless Networks" - OPNET WLAN module is used by some graduate students for their term project. Projects typically involve WiFi, UMTS networks and potentially WiMAX. OPNET Modeler and wireless modules are used.   

·    CSE 550: "Computer Network Design" - OPNET is used by the graduate students for their term project.
