Chemical Kinetics of Bromate-Bromide Reaction

Objective:

The reaction between bromide and bromate ions in acidic aqueous solution.

BrO3- (aq) + 5 Br- (aq) + 6 H+ (aq) 3 Br2 (aq) + 3 H2O (l)

Preparations and Measurements:

You may use any technique or strategy for achieving the experimental objectives.

Prepare the solutions used in the experiment, there are some restrictions on the concentrations that can be used

Bromine is the only colored species in this reaction, therefore spectroscopic absorbance will be used to determine bromine concentration.

Due to the known uncertainty in the very low and high absorbance, the optimal operating range is absorbance between 0.1 and 1.0 do not involve excessive error

Any pair of values may be plotted on the graph where linear regression can be performed
