Course Description:
Introduction
to basic concepts of Physics and Chemistry with selected topics from Earth
Science.
Textbook:
Conceptual
Physical Science by Hewitt, Suchocki, and Hewitt (3rd
Edition, 2004). Published
by Pearson Addison-Wesley.
Attendance:
Attendance in lectures is compulsory. It will be
enforced and evaluated according to the current university regulations. A DN
grade shall be given to the student who has 6 or
more unexcused absences or a total (excused and unexcused) of 9 or more
absences. A student who has a valid excuse for his absence must present an
officially authorized document to his instructor no later than one week
following his resumption of classes.

Course Objective:
Prepare students to freshman
science courses taught in English by emphasizing basic concepts of Physics and
Chemistry as well as by highlighting some important topics in Earth Science.
Teaching Method:
Blackboard,
Transparencies, WebCT, Interactive Group Work.
Make-up Exam Policy:
A student who has missed an exam
with a valid excuse must present an officially authorized
document to the instructor within 7 days after the exam for a make-up.
If not, the score for that exam will be zero. Personal excuses shall not be
accepted.
