My Consulting & Other Professional Activities |
It is quite unforeseeable to conduct scientific research and/or teach Information Systems without having a direct unequivocal relationship with information systems users in industry and government sectors. Logically, you will find my research to be mostly empirical. Moreover, I have lead and participated in consulting projects in a number of Saudi industrial companies. In particular: my consulting experience and interest include a number of areas in information systems: computer-mediated communication projects, information systems implementation, administrative procedures, and government sector uses of information technology. I have offered consulting services to Saudi Aramco, Saudi Railroads Establishment, and a number of private organizations in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. I have been a member in the Board of Directors of the Saudi Telecommunication Company (STC) for more than 5 years (May 1998-February 2003). Besides, other board assignments, I was a member in the Audit Committee and the Compensation Committee of the board. As the first privatization venture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, STC has set for itself ambitious growth and service level goals in the Kingdom’s telecommunication. I have also served as a board member in the Saudi Computer Society (SCS). SCS is the national computer association with wide array of memberships including academicians, computer professionals, and computer students. I am also a member in a number of international computer associations such as Information Resources Management Association (USA). For six years, I have participated as a member in the Accounting Standards Committee in the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA). The committee develops accounting standards and provides professional opinion in Saudi Arabia. Throughout my career, I have attended numerous conferences and executive training programs at renowned institutions such as Harvard Business School (USA) and University of Bath (UK). |
