Homework Policy

1.         Homeworks should be submitted during class time.

2.         No late homeworks will be accepted.

3.         Copied homeworks will not receive any credit.

4.         Solution of every homework will be posted two days after the due date.

5.         Each problem should be started on a new page.

6.         Each homework is to be written on A4 size paper with a cover sheet in front.

7.         Each problem should be solved according to the format below.

 

Solution Format:

Given: State briefly in your own words the information given, choosing appropriate symbols (following the notation of the Textbook and class notes) and indicate their numerical values if supplied.

 

Find: State the information to be found.

 

Schematic: Draw a schematic of the problem (Redraw if the schematic is given in the textbook.)

 

Solution:

a.       State the basic equations necessary to solve the problem.

b.      List all simplifying assumptions appropriate for the problem.

c.       Conduct the analysis using symbols without  substituting any numerical answer.

d.      If you use any physical property, state where you get it from (e.g. Table, Figure or Graph)

e.       Make sure that the significant figures in the answer are consistent with the significant figures in the given data.

f.        Label your final answer by a box.
