The extension Element
Definition and Usage
The extension element extends an existing simpleType or complexType element.
Element Information
- Parent elements: simpleContent, complexContent
Syntax
<extension
id=ID
base=QName
any attributes
>
(annotation?,((group|all|choice|sequence)?,
((attribute|attributeGroup)*,anyAttribute?)))
</extension>
|
(The ? sign declares that the element can occur zero or one time, and the * sign declares that the element can occur zero or more times
inside the extension element)

simpleType element, or a complexType element |

Optional. Specifies any other attributes with non-schema

The following example extends an existing simpleType by adding an
attribute:
