The <link> tag

Definition and Usage

This element defines the relationship between two linked documents.


Tips and Notes

Note: The link element is an empty element, it contains attributes only.

Note:  This element goes only in the head section, but it can appear any number of times.

Note: The end tag is forbidden.


Examples

Example:
This example demonstrates how to use the <link> tag to link to an external style sheet.

href url A url to the linked resource
hreflang language_code The base language of the linked resource
target _blank

_parent
Where to open the linked document. 

When using the "_blank" method  the link will load in a new window. 

When using the "_self" method the link will load in the same frame it was clicked. 

When using the "_parent" method the link will load in the parent frameset. 

When using the "_top" method the link will load in the full body of the window
