Dr. A. H. Mantawy received the B.Sc. and the M.Sc.
degrees in electrical engineering from Ain Shams University,
Egypt, in 1982 and 1988 respectively, and the Ph.D. degree
from King Fahd University Of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM),
Saudi Arabia, in 1997.
Dr. Mantawy worked with
the electrical power and machines dept. at Ain Shams
University as a graduate assistant then as a lecturer. Also
he was a lecturer and currently an assistant professor at
the Dept. of Elect. Engineering at KFUPM.
His research interests include: application of optimization
methods to electric power systems, applications of
artificial intelligence techniques to electric power
systems, power systems analysis and control and optimal
power systems operation and planning.
He
designed many Application Programs for Electric Power
Systems Problems e.g. Load Flow, Short Circuit, Unit
Commitment, Economic Dispatch and Planning. Utilized many of
the available application programs packages e.g. CYME
programs, MAREL and ETAP.
He
has done consulting both in Egypt and kingdom of Saudi
Arabia in the area of distribution systems design, analysis
and planning. He worked in the design and preparation of
specifications and tender documents of distribution networks
for industrial, commercial and residential buildings.
Dr. Mantawy worked as a visiting research professor at
Dalehoise University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in the
period July-August 2000 and July-August 2001. Done a
research work with the power research group of Professor M.
El-Hawary.
