Establish your credibility as the presenter |
Receivers must believe and
feel that the sender is . . .
-
trustworthy
- an
expert about the topic
- believable
-
knowledgeable
- worthy
of respect
-
dynamic, lively and forceful
-
reliable and skilled
Fulfilling the Purpose
A sender with these qualities
is more likely to fulfill his purpose, because his level of
Credibility is high.
EXAMPLE |
If a Sender wants to
INFORM about "The Health Dangers of Cigarette Smoking,"
he must be an expert about the topic, knowledgeable,
and believable if he is to have a high
level of CREDIBILITY. If he is not an expert, the
audience will not be willing to accept his information
as true and reliable. As a result, the Sender's
Credibility level will be low. |
INCREASE YOUR OWN
CREDIBILITY
"I am a student, not an
expert," you say? Well, you can increase your level of Credibility
by referring to ...
·
an
expert
·
research
·
a
book, magazine
·
internet site
·
statistics
as your official source of
information to support your own ideas. |
