Message from Conference General Chair

Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Institute of electrical and Electronics Engineers GCC Sections,
I am pleased to extend you a warm welcome to the 4th IEEE-GCC Conference and
Exhibition.
From a modest beginning in 2002, we have come a long way in building upon the
success of previous years to host this conference at the Gulf International
Convention and Exhibition Center, Kingdom of Bahrain during 11-14 November 2007.
Complete details of the various sessions are provided in this guide. The
increasing attendance and the deep involvement of the IEEE, the world’s largest
technical professional organization, is proof of the growing importance of this
event.
We are introducing an Industry Technology Track this year that covers areas of
great interest to our local industry such as International Standards, the most
important contribution of the IEEE to the world. It is the IEEE Standards and
guidelines that have lead to the current state of technological compatibility,
be it in the fields of electrical, electronics, communications or information
technology equipment and networks. Other session topics of great importance to
our local industry are also included such as Next Generation Networks,
Applications in Oil & Gas Industry and Power Electronics.
Another major development is the recent formation of a Gulf Education Society
Chapter with members from all GCC countries. IEEE-GCC Members have been able to
make very valuable contributions to the IEEE operations in the Middle East,
Africa and European regions.
The quality of our technical content
has been improving over the years. The Technical Committee Chair will be sharing
details on this.
With an exhibition area of over 2,500 sq.m. and the participation of over 600
delegates from a cross section of industry and academia, this event offers a
golden opportunity to organizations to promote products, services, ideas and
business in a comprehensive way as it attracts decision makers from regional,
governmental, scientific, business and technological community. As the leading
event of such nature in the region, it provides a platform for professionals to
exchange latest knowledge, experience and lessons learned to achieve the highest
standards in their work.
I take this opportunity to extend my warm appreciation to the Government of the
Kingdom of Bahrain and other GCC Governments for their cooperation, to the
various sponsors for their support and to the excellent teams guided by able
Chairmen of the various committees who have worked day and night in organizing
this event.
I wish you a most rewarding time here in Bahrain and I thank you for attending
this event. Please feel free to share your comments and suggestions with the
various committee members.
