Marty Cole has worked for Hubbell Canada LP for close to 30 years and has been involved with hazardous locations for much of that time.  He is a member of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) Part I - Section 18 Subcommittee and CSA’s Integrated Committee on Hazardous Location Products.  He was vice-chair of the task force that added the IEC Zone System to Section 18 and chaired the committee that adopted the IEC 60079 Series standards as CSA standards. 

Marty is chairman of the Hazardous Location Products sub-section of Electro Federation Canada’s (EEMAC) Wiring Products Section, a member of the Advisory Committee for the Objective Based Industrial Electrical Code (OBIEC), along with a number of other CSA Part 2 and IEC standards and technical committees.  He has authored and co-authored a number of papers and articles on the subject of hazardous locations for the IEEE-PCIC, PCIC-Europe, IEEE-IAS Magazine, EX Magazine and other industry publications.

He advises on the development of, and is an instructor for, the CSA Learning Centres’ course on Hazardous Location Fundamentals.  He also conducts training courses for the IAEI, IBEW, various industry groups and individual companies on multiple subjects related to hazardous locations.
