Project Title: Protocol Development for multimedia communications
Project Code: MAM4.
This project deals with performance evaluation of quality-of-service
(QoS) when a LAN is used to transfer real-time control signals
between two or more end stations. The QoS depends on the
protocol used and associated overhead.
The student is expected to develop a multimedia protocol,
study different design alternatives (header format, length, compression
schemes, timeouts, etc) and evaluate their performance. We have
developed a DATA LINK INTERFACE (DLI) library, and the student will
use it to read and write packets, and do simple operations on the
packets. For example to simulate some well known rate-controlled
real-time traffic through a client server interface and carry out
statistical performance evaluation of QoS.
