ABSTRACT
Pavement
system in the Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia is
experiencing an early rutting problem in the flexible asphaltic
pavements. This problem has attracted the attention of many researchers and
highway authorities to study and introduce means of solving it by predicting, correcting,
minimizing, or preventing It. This paper presents the generation of necessary
input variables used in VESYS-3AM computer program in order to calibrate and
verify this model and generalize it for local use. Some road sections in the Eastern Province
of Saudi Arabia
were selected for this study and it was found that VESYS model, after
calibration using the shift factor concept, has a good correlation in rut depth
prediction so it can be used locally.
