CA Writing Descriptor

· Progress Tests assess material from the three units students have studied up to that point.

· They do not assess retroactively.

· Progress Test 1 assesses Units 1 – 3 of Headway and Units 1 – 3 of Nat Geo.

· Progress Test 2 assesses Units 7 – 9 of Headway and Units 7 – 9 of Nat Geo.

· Each Progress Test is worth 7.5% of ENGL01.

 

· The Mid-Module Exam assesses all material students have studied up to that point.

· It tests Units 1 – 6 of Headway and Units 1 – 6 of Nat Geo.

· The Mid-Module Exam is worth 15% of ENGL01.

 

·    Speaking is assessed by the instructor at the end of the course.

·    The Final Exam assesses all of Headway and Nat Geo.

·    The Final Exam is worth 40% of the entire mark.

·    The Final Writing Exam consists of two tasks similar to the CA writing tasks.

 

 

· Each CA Writing is worth one third of 10%, or 3.33%

· CA Writings are marked by the class teacher and then adjusted according to students’ performance in the Final Exam.
