A few CADKEY commands for various operations:
Always remember to look at the prompt line after each command selection to see what CADKEY is asking for at each step of the command sequence. Doing so you will better understand the way CADKEY expects input to provided.
To rotate any entity (circle, etc.) about an axis (which must be either a point or any other location like an intersection of two lines, etc.), use the following commands sequences:
First <esc> to the top menu and select XFORM > ROTATE > COPY > WINDOW,
then make window around the entity to be rotated, then enter the number of copies required in the box below,
then indicate the axis using the commands available (if you have two intersecting lines that denote a location on the axis, use the INTRSC command and select both lines, and then press enter,
then enter the angle between each copy (including the original)
To mirror any set of entities about an axis (which must be either a point or any other location like an intersection of two lines, etc.), use the following commands sequences:
First <esc> to the top menu and select XFORM > MIRROR > COPY > WINDOW,
then make window around the entity to be rotated,
then select 1 PT H if the mirror is to be made about the horizontal axis, or 1 PT V if the mirror is to be made about the vertical axis,
then indicate any location on the axis using the ENDENT, INTRSC or POINT commands.
Transferring MODEL to LAYOUT mode
To transfer your completed model to layout mode, first save the file to your floppy drive and then follow the command sequence:
DEATAIL > LAYOUT
then in the box shown below, enter the name, description, paper size (A4) and scale (as shown on the original drawing) :
and click on OK.
Then select INSTANCE > CREATE > MODIFY
and in the dialog box shown below, click on Top View, and then click on OK:
When CADKEY asks for the rotation angle, make sure the value shown is 0 (zero), and press enter, then move the cursor onto the layout area and click wherever you want to place the model. NOTE: Always remember to leave enough space on all sides to insert any text notes, dimensioning and the page border.
