Dr. Chanane is very fluent in English and French (Studied and taught in both languages). The medium of instruction at INELEC (The Algerian National Institute of Electricity and Electronics) and KFUPM (King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals) is English. Arabic is his mother tongue.  INELEC was established in 1976 and run by a Consortium of American Universities led by the Education Development Center, Newton, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
