ELECTRIC CIRCUITS, Nilsson & Riedel, 6th Edition, 2001.

Course Description

Basic laws: Ohm's, KVL, KCL. Resistive networks. Circuit analysis techniques: nodal and mesh analysis. Network theorems: Thevenin's, Norton's, source transformations, superposition, maximum power transfer. Energy storage elements. Phasor technique for steady-state sinusoidal response. Important power concepts of ac circuits. Transient analysis of first-order circuits.

Course Objectives

The course objectives are to enable students to:

  1. Understand basic concepts of DC and AC circuit behavior
  2. Develop and solve mathematical representations for simple RLC circuits
  3. Understand the use of circuit analysis theorems and methods
  4. Design an electric circuit

Grading Policy

Major Exams 30% (All major exams will be taken in class).
Quizzes 10 %
Design Problem 5 %
Laboratory 20 %
Final Exam 35 %
