Abstract: A fuzzy controller has been designed for power system stabilization, which combines the conventional optimum control theory with fuzzy logic control. A minimum time stabilizing strategy is embedded in the fuzzy design to ensure adequate damping. The proposed controller employs less number of fuzzy variables and computationally is very fast. The robustness of the fuzzy design has been tested on a single machine system and two multi-machine system simulations considering various operating conditions. Simulation results show that the proposed fuzzy controller provides excellent damping properties.
