Junaid A. Siddiqui

Welcome!

I am currently working at the Deanship of Academic Development, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia. When I joined this office in 2000 I was a Civil Engineer by qualification. From then on I have been learning about learning. You will find me reporting on this website a variety of activities that I have been involved with during these years. However it has more importantly been an experience of situated learning for me.

My perspective about the teaching and learning at a university has significantly evolved. If learning is meaning making then second order source of knowledge, i.e., content of a discipline, should not alone take the centre stage. The university education must base the learning process in experiences for students that allow them to make a meaning of their own and allow them to learn how to learn. It should facilitate them to build a sense of belonging to the people and values of the discipline within which they have opted to study. It is this realization that constitutes my interests at the moment.

Please browse through this website which provides highlights of my professional and academic activities and achievements. If you have any comments or would like to contact me then please click here for my contact information.
