Economical Internet connectivity and basic computing for residential buildings:

The idea is to make a system compromising very inexpensive hardware/software to enable residents of a building to share a common internet connection (such as a DSL ). The hardware should be bare minimum (not a complete PC). Required processing power should be centralized (i.e. a server). The individual platforms should be some sort of a thin client. The server should also allow residence to play net games, share e-resources (such as e-library of audio, video, text ..etc.). Such a project has a huge commercial potential in many 3rd world countries. The targeted cost should not exceed SR1,000 per apartment.
