NADHMI A. AL-NASR is currently the interim Vice President of the King Abdullah University of Science & Technology. Nadhmi graduated in 1978 with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran. He joined Saudi Aramco the same year and spent his first three years in Engineering Services.  In 1981, Nadhmi began working on the execution of the Kingdom’s Master Gas System, a program to provide feedstock for the petrochemical industries of the two industrial cities at Jubail and Yanbu.   In 1986, he was promoted to Project Manager with responsibility for all Ghawar oil field capital programs. In 1991, he began managing the massive and aggressive crude expansion program in the Ghawar oilfield, ensuring the Kingdom’s ability to fill the production gap caused by the loss of oil output from Iraq and Kuwait during the Gulf War. This entire program was completed and commissioned in 1993.

Nadhmi held several management positions such as Manager of Saudi Aramco’s oil and gas pipeline projects, Manager of the Shaybah Development Program which was commissioned in mid-1998,  Manager of Long Range Planning Department, Managing Director of Saudi Petroleum Overseas Ltd. (SPOL),  Executive Director of Engineering Services,and Vice President, Engineering Services.

During his 26 years with Saudi Aramco, Nadhmi has spent half of the time working with international engineering and consulting firms in the USA, UK, Netherlands and Japan. The other half of his career has been spent in Saudi Arabia, mainly in oil fields such as Ghawar, Safaniya and Shaybah.
