CHEM 101

First Semester

(091) 2009-10

GENERAL INFORMATION

Chemistry by Zumdahl & Zumdahl, 7th  Edition

1.      Homework

Students are strongly advised to do the homework problems assigned from the textbook. Solutions of the homework will be posted on the CHEM 101 bulletin board located outside the auditorium (4-125).

2.      Quizzes and Exams

Quizzes will be given in the recitation classes and exams will be common. WebCT may also be used for quizzes. The problems in quizzes and exams can be related to any material mentioned in the syllabus.

3Online Study Center

It is strongly recommended that students make use of online study center of the textbook at www.kfupm.edu.sa/chem/gchem website. This is extremely helpful in the visualization of concepts using animations, videos, molecular models and problem solving strategies.

      4.   General Policy on attendance and make-ups

(a)          Attendance in the classes will be taken within five minutes of the beginning of the class.

(b)          "DN" grade will be given to any student exceeding

·        9 unexcused or 15 excused/unexcused absences in the lecture classes

(OR)

·        3 unexcused or 5 excused/unexcused absences in the laboratory classes

·         Officially authorized excuse of absences must be presented to the instructor no later than one week following the resumption of class attendance.

(b)   No Make-up will be given for the majors, quizzes and labs.
