CHEMISTRY (6TH EDITION) ZUMDAHL

 1.  Quizzes and homework

Quizzes will be given in the recitation classes. Students are advised to do the homework problems assigned from the textbook but it will not be collected. Solutions to the homework problems will be posted on the CHEM 101 bulletin board located near Room # 4-125 after completion of the corresponding chapter.

 2.  CD-ROM

It is strongly recommended that students make use of the CD-ROM tools accompanying the textbook. They are extremely helpful in the visualization of concepts using animations, videos and molecular models. The problem solving strategies are well illustrated and varieties of exercises and tests are proposed.

 3.  General Policy on attendance and make -ups

(a)       Attendance in the large lectures and the recitation classes will be taken within five minutes of the beginning of the class. 

(b)  A DN grade will be given to any student exceeding 9 unexcused absences in the lecture and/or 3 unexcused absences in the laboratory experiments. Any student in possession of an excuse for officially authorized absence must present the excuse to his instructor no later than one week following his resumption of class attendance.

 (c)     No make-ups for the majors or the quizzes will be given.

4.     Final Grade Distribution
