WELCOME
TO MY WEB PAGE AT KFUPM
I am an Assistant
Professor in the Department of Chemistry at King Fahd University
of Petroleum & Minerals. My interests in teaching and research
are in the area of Synthetic Organic Chemistry. I received my
both my BSc (1994) and PhD (1998) from Leeds University, Leeds,
England. I spent two years as a Postdoctoral Fellow at King’s
College London, England. In 2000 I began my teaching career
at KFUPM.
I have integrated
various Instructional Technology tools (SMART Board, Visualizor,
Online review Quizzes & 2-D Animations) into my teaching
of both undergraduate and graduate organic chemistry courses.
I have developed online WebCT
courses for Organic Chemistry I (CHEM
201) and Advanced Organic Chemistry (CHEM 530). Please explore
my Teaching
link in order to find more details about my Teaching Philosophy
and the E-Learning tools which I have developed.
My research interests
lie in the field of asymmetric synthesis. Currently we are employing
a novel class of imine, which is activated by a chiral phosphorus
auxiliary, for the synthesis of enantiomerically pure α-amino
acids and α-aminophosphonic
acids. We are also interested in developing novel chiral ligands
derived from dibenzothiophene and to investigate their reactivity
in various catalytic asymmetric reactions. Please explore my
Research link for more details
about my research.
Please do not
hesitate to contact me
if you require any further information. Thank you for your visit.
