2017 – 2018: Industrialized Building System: a Framework for the Construction Industry

Funded by King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), the aim of this study is to investigate the ‘industrialization’ of building/construction in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

2015 – 2017: Quality Management System for Construction Companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Development and Implementation

Funded by the Construction Industry Institute of Saudi Arabia (CII-SA), the aim of this study are to develop quality management system (QMS) and its implementation guideline for contractors in the construction industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The research is conducted by research teams composed of me as the Principal Investigator and nine industry experts. The research employs focus group and case studies as its research method. The expected deliverables of this research will be a Quality Management System for contractors in the construction industry and a recommended guideline for its implementation

2013 – 2015:  Current Status of the Construction Industry in Saudi Arabia

Funded by the Construction Industry Institute of Saudi Arabia, the objectives of this study are to provide an overview of the status of the construction industry in Saudi Arabia. Firstly, studying the accomplishment of the construction industry, which includes the total cost of construction; total cost of construction materials imported; quantity of materials produced annually; number of infrastructural utilities constructed; total length of roads built; number of building permits issued by municipalities; number of licenses issued by the ministry of industry for construction factories. Secondly, identification of all parties involved in the construction industry and their roles. This includes number of contractors in Saudi Arabia and their categories; number of consultant and engineering offices and their types; number and types of construction workers; and the number and type owners

2013 – 2015:  Construction Engineering and Management Research Program

This research project aims to develop a research program for the Construction Industry Institute (CII) of Saudi Arabia that identifies and prioritizes opportunities for improving Construction and Engineering Management of Construction projects

2009 – 2010 Creating Value in Project Management using PRINCE2 

The goal of this research project was to “evaluate the impact of PRINCE2 on project performance”. Under the sponsorship of the APM Group UK Ltd working in conjunction with the UK Government Office of Government Commerce and TSO, a multi‐disciplinary research team from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) has undertaken one of the first empirical studies into the impact of PRINCE2®1 on project performance. The research study was entitled Creating Value in Project Management using PRINCE2. For comparison, the study also conducted parallel research on the impact of other unspecified (non‐PRINCE2) contemporary project management frameworks on project performance

2008 – 2011 CRC CIEAM Scholarship 

This scholarship was funded by CRC for Infrastructure Engineering Asset Management for PhD study of Anna Wiewiora. The aim of this research is to investigate how Organisation Culture, trust and Knowledge Sharing Mechanism influence Inter-Project Knowledge Sharing behaviours

2006 – 2009 Green Infrastructure by Design: Approach for Better Quality of Urban Environment 

TThis project aimed to expand the knowledge base (with special attention to planning and design parameters) and to develop new technologies based on the green design concept with Indonesian specifics, and to facilitate the adoption of this paradigm in the mainstream of infrastructure development, with particular attention to the green design concept based infrastructure development in Indonesia. The project was funded by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, the Republic of Indonesia through Promoting Excellence (Program B) scheme, and was conducted in collaboration with industry partners and the City of Depok. 2006 – 2007 Konstruksi Indonesia 2030 (Indonesian Construction 2030) 

The aim of this project is to provide a road map for developing the Indonesian construction industry. Indonesian National Construction Service Development Board funded the project

2003 – 2004: Mapping the Characteristics and Competencies of Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia 

The aim of this project is to understand the characteristics and competencies of Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia to better serve the regional needs and requirements. It is funded by the by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, the Republic of Indonesia

2003: Analysis of Indonesian Construction Industry for developing construction companies’ strategic plan 

The aim of this project is to understand the characteristics and condition of Indonesian construction industry, which would be used as the basis for developing strategic plan of state-owned construction companies. It is funded by Indonesian state-owned construction companies

2003: Study on Procurement of Construction and Project Management Services for Public Infrastructure 

The aim of this project is to identify the most effective construction and project management system for public infrastructure projects in Indonesia. It is funded by the Ministry of Regional Infrastructure, the Republic of Indonesia

2003: Personnel Remuneration and Direct Reimbursable Cost for Engineering Consulting Services 

The aim of this project is to identify the main factors that influence the personnel and direct reimbursable cost for consulting services in Indonesia. It is funded by the Indonesian Association of Consulting Companies

1997: Higher education relevance – Construction Management program  

Construction management course was relatively new in Indonesia. It gains its popularity in mid 1990s. As part of improving the higher education system, the by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, the Republic of Indonesia commission several studies on the relevance of some study program both to industry and education system. The aim of this project is to study the relevance of construction management program

1996-1998:  Land Transportation Study 

The aim of this project is to find alternative mode of on land transportation in the Malacca Strait Production Sharing Contract (PSC) area

1991-1992:  Study on road construction over peat ground 

The aim of this project is to find alternative method of road construction over peat ground in the Malacca Strait Production Sharing Contract (PSC) area
