ROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Summer 79: Engineering Department at ARAMCO, Dhahran. Summer student program.

1979-1980: ARAMCO Worked in the Engineering Department, (SCECO) branch, as an Engineer under training as part of the UPM Co-operative program.

1981-1982: Joined the University of Petroleum & Minerals as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Construction Management.

1982-1988: Joined the University of Texas at Austin for graduate studies.

1988-1992: Assistant Professor in the Construction Engineering and Management at the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals.

1993- 2005: Associate Professor in the Construction Engineering and Management at the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals.

June 2005 till date: Professor in the Construction Engineering and Management at the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals.

1992- 1995: Chairman of the Architectural Engineering Department at the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals.

1995- 1996: Chairman of the Construction Engineering and Management Department at the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals.

1997-2001: Consultant for Prince Sultan Science and Technology Center.

1997-2002: Manager, Research and Innovation Support Division, Research Institute, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals.

2002 till September 2005: Director, Center for Engineering Research, Research Institute, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals.

2000-till date: Honorary Senior Research Fellow in The School of Civil Engineering, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.

2003-till date: Member of Prince Mohammed University (under development) advisory committee.

2003-till date: Member of the Advisory Committee, Building Code.

2004-till date: Chairman of the Technical Committee for Legal and code aminstation issues, Building Code.

KFUPM award of best Advisor in College of Environmental Design in 1991-1992 academic year.

KFUPM award of best Teacher in College of Environmental Design in 1992-1993 academic year.

Fulbright Scholar, three months award in the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA, Summer 1995.

British Council Exchange Program (Twice)

AACE International award of Best Executive of the Year 1994-1995.

Project Management Institute Appreciation for the contribution in the sixth annual conferences, December 1998.

The Thesis Titled “Subcontracting Practices in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia” and prepared by the student Aref H. Al-Roumi won Prince Mohammed award for best research.

Chairman of a group entrusted to develop regulations for establishing building code in Saudi Arabia.

Member of a team for developing community colleges in Saud Arabia.
