ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research is to study the effect of different stabilizers, including lime, cement, liquid asphalt and their combination on the engineering properties of locally abundant marl. Laboratory tests were used to determine geotechnical properties and mineralogical composition of marl. Lime was effective in decreasing the maximum dry density and increasing optimum water content, reducing plasticity and increasing strength. Unconfined compressive test and triaxial test were used to evaluate the effect of stabilizer percentage, water content and curing time. Test results indicated the effectiveness of liquid asphalt stabilizers, especially emulsified asphalt, in reducing the stability loss of compacted marl mixes when saturated.
